Wisconsin-based conservative activist and street preacher was arrested while protesting a Pride event which was captured on video.
Expressing Their Religious Beliefs
The clash unfolded during the annual “Pride in the Park” event in Watertown, Wisconsin, where Marcus Schroeder and his group, Warriors for Christ, were openly expressing their religious beliefs.
Law Enforcement Surrounded Him
The video footage shows Schroeder reciting biblical verses through a microphone as law enforcement surrounds him, seizes his equipment, and proceeds to handcuff him.
Arrested for Noise Violation
He was arrested for allegedly violating a noise amplification-related sound ordinance.
Others Were Arrested Earlier for Praying
Jason Storms, another member of Warriors for Christ, who documented the incident and shared it online, revealed that three other young demonstrators from their group were also arrested earlier in the day while praying and engaging with event attendees.
They Were Eventually Released
Although they were eventually released with warnings, Storms claimed these arrests were carried out under the instructions of city officials.
He Believes His Freedoms Were Impeded
Storms believed that the arrests impeded their right to freedom of speech, emphasizing that Schroeder was preaching on a sidewalk adjacent to the public event.
“Unlawful Use of Sound Amplification”
He clarified that Schroeder was charged with “unlawful use of sound amplification” and resisting arrest.
‘It Was Worth It’
Despite facing legal consequences, Schroeder expressed no remorse for his actions, stating, “It was worth it.
It’s actually an honor to be counted worthy to stand with the cloud of witnesses who have gone before us and been arrested for the sake of spreading Christ and his kingdom.”
Says Behavior at Pride Was Not Family Friendly
Storms further criticized the Pride event, alleging inappropriate attire and behavior in front of young children and emphasizing that the event’s organizers, the Unity Project of Watertown, had marketed it as family-friendly.
‘We Will Stand for the Truth’
Nick Proell, another Christian youth arrested during the event, stood firm, asserting his readiness to take similar actions again to prevent the perceived sexualization of children by their parents.
“God will use it for good. We will stand for truth even if we stand alone,” Proell declared.
The Arrest Triggered Backlash
The arrest video triggered significant backlash on social media platforms, although it received limited attention from mainstream media.
Says He’s Not Affiliated With Neo-Nazis
Meanwhile, the focus shifted to a group of neo-Nazis who disrupted the event. Storms disassociated his group from the Nazi sympathizers, emphasizing that they were not local residents.
