Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders recently announced the introduction of an executive order to mandate the use of gender-specific terms when describing women and prohibited the use of woke and anti-women words. Here’s the full story.
Banning Woke, Anti-women Words
The executive order plans to “prohibit the use of woke, anti-women words for official state government business.”
Sanders said, “The science is clear and real; There are things only women can do, like perform the miracle of birth.”
Celebrate Gender Distinctions
Talking to Fox News Digital, she added, “Government should reject language that ignores, undermines, and erases women; Government should celebrate gender distinctions between men and women — not erase them.”
The Banned Words
One specific example that led to Sanders’ executive order was a memo from the Arkansas Department of Health that used the term “pregnant people.”
The governor’s order now requires the state to use the terms “pregnant women” or “pregnant moms” when referring to expectant women.
Use the Word “Woman”
Other changes include not using the words “menstruating person” or “menstruating people,” and using the terms “woman” or “women.”
Instead of “birthing person,” use “birth mom,” and use “breastfeeding” instead of “chestfeeding.”
Importance of Celebrating Women
She explained the importance of celebrating women’s unique capabilities, expressing her strong opposition to gender-neutral language and efforts to erase femininity from the public discourse.
Biden Surrendered to Woke Mobs
As the first woman to serve as Arkansas governor, Sanders has criticized President Biden as “the first man to surrender his presidency to woke mobs that can’t tell you what a woman is.”
Several States Have Embraced Inclusive Language
The move towards inclusive language is not unique to Arkansas, as several other places have initiated similar changes.
Portland, Oregon, urged city staff members to adopt a more “culturally conscious” vocabulary that discouraged the use of terms like “women,” “Caucasian,” or “citizen.”
Removing “Male” and “Female” Words
In Vermont, an elementary school faced criticism for removing “male” and “female” language from fifth-grade science lessons about the human body and reproduction.
Meanwhile, a school district in Missouri decided to use “they/them” pronouns in math classes to cater to students’ “mathematical identities.”
Extends to Religion and Sports
The push for inclusive language is not confined to gender as it extends to religion and sports, too.
Michigan State University released an “inclusive” language guide advising students to avoid references to religious imagery and language during the winter and spring seasons.
Merry Christmas Is Changed
The guide suggested phrases like “wishing you a wonderful winter/spring break” instead of “Merry Christmas” or “Easter.”
Governor Sanders will introduce this executive order to “ban a number of all sorts of ridiculous words from state government documents.”
Erase Women and Girls
She said, “We are all here to say enough. Enough trying to erase women and girls. Enough denying our biological differences from men. Enough of the craziness taking over our country.”
Stand Against Woke Nonsense
“They’re using nonsense words to erase women and girls — and, more importantly, to erase our voices and experiences.
Today, we’re taking a stand against woke nonsense… It’s the Left that decided that ‘woman’ is a dirty word. It’s the Left that decided that we needed to toss out basic biology — and basic grammar along with it,” she added.
“Too Pathetic for Words”
Several social media users shared their thoughts on the incident.
One Twitter user wrote, “Arkansas…dead last or close to it in almost every metric when it comes to the wellbeing of people but this is what is being concentrated on. Too pathetic for words.”
The Place to Be
Another user added, “Wow! She is simply transforming Arkansas into the place to be. I expect a population explosion as people from all over the nation pack up their [stuff] and move in.
She is truly poised upon the cutting edge of politics.”
A third user commented, “I’m guessing she’s trying to eliminate support for transitioned people but if you say it clearly you put your career in danger.”
