Vice President Kamala Harris found herself in the midst of controversy once again during her recent visit to Reading Area Community College as part of the “Fight for Our Freedoms” tour. Here’s the full story.
The Speech
While she attempted to address concerns specific to young adults, her statements on climate anxiety ignited a firestorm of criticism.
Climate Anxiety
Harris told students at the college, “I’ve heard young leaders talk with me about a term they’ve coined: ‘climate anxiety.’
Which is fear of the future and the unknown of whether it makes sense for you to even think about having children, whether it makes sense for you to think about aspiring to buy a home because what will this climate be?”
Young Adults Disagree
However, Harris’s comments were met with skepticism on social media, with many attributing the anxieties of young adults to economic concerns rather than climate change.
Bidenomics’ Anxiety
One Twitter user wrote, “More like ‘bidenomics’ anxiety,” while another person added, “Ya sure it’s not whether or not they can afford to raise a child in this economy?”
Uncertain Economy and High-Interest Rates
A third user commented, “Oddly, everyone else thinks it is the uncertain economy and high interest rates.”
A fourth user added “Or maybe people can’t afford either one because of Bidenomics!”
This Woman Is So Vile
A fifth user wrote, “This woman is so vile,” while another added, “She is so crooked because of all the prices and housing interest rates and unfairness of the housing market compared to decades ago.”
The Horrible Economy
One user also added, “The horrible economy created by your Green New Deal policies is making me doubt having children and buying a house”
This Is Not the First Time
However, Kamala Harris has become no stranger to criticism, particularly regarding her recent comment about assuming the presidency if President Biden falls ill during his second term.
Biden Is Fine
Harris stated in an earlier interview, “Joe Biden is going to be fine, so that is not going to come to fruition.
Harris May Take Over the Job of Being President
“But let us also understand that every vice president — every vice president — understands that when they take the oath they must be very clear about the responsibility they may have to take over the job of being president. I’m no different,” she continued.
Working On Behalf of the American People
She added, “I see him every day. A substantial amount of time we spend together is in the Oval Office, where I see how his ability to understand issues and weave through complex issues in a way that no one else can to make smart and important decisions on behalf of the American people has played out.”
