Interrupted Romantic Dinner
The boyfriend explained that while he and his girlfriend were sitting in the restaurant having a romantic meal, she received a text from her best friend.
Distracted by a Text
Her friend had just given birth, a C-Section, and as a nurse, the girlfriend told her boyfriend that the surgeon would have to make an incision and that the friend would be left with a scar.
A Badly Received Joke
The boyfriend replied, as a joke, that “at least she’ll still be tight down there.”
Disgusted and Shocked
He explained that his girlfriend looked confused and then said “that was a weird comment to make about my friend.”
The Argument Starts
The boyfriend responded “It is a very normal joke to make” but his girlfriend disagreed.
He Want to “Drop It”
There was some back and forth, he asked her to “drop it” but she kept trying to talk about it.
The Walk Out
The back and forth continued until frustrated, the boyfriend got up and walked out of the restaurant, and drove home.
Ignoring Her Phone Calls
The girlfriend tried to call him several times, which he ignored and then switched off his phone.
Name Calling
The boyfriend said that after 30 minutes, his girlfriend arrived home by Uber (having waited for it in the cold) at their apartment, and she was furious and called him an idiot and a terrible boyfriend.
Who’s Really to Blame?
He concluded by asking, “Am I to blame for walking out on her and leaving her there or her for overreacting about a joke?”
