An Outspoken DeSantis Supporter
Cardillo, an outspoken supporter of Ron DeSantis, rivaling Donald Trump, referred to Jenner by her former name, Bruce, in a tweet on July 9.
He claimed that Trump, much like President Joe Biden, was supportive of the transgender community, citing examples such as allowing Trans contestants in Miss Universe and opposing North Carolina’s bathroom bill.
Cardillo also took a personal jab at Jenner, mentioning her appearance as a media surrogate.
Jenner Fired Back
In response, Jenner, the Fox News contributor, and long-time Trump supporter, swiftly fired back with a sarcastic tweet, accusing Cardillo of being overly emotional and questioning whether he was transitioning himself.
She even made a playful remark about Cardillo’s physical appearance, claiming he had bigger breasts than her.
Accusations of Hypocrisy
Jenner’s support for Trump has drawn criticism from the transgender community, with many accusing her of being a hypocrite.
Despite the backlash, Jenner has continued to publicly voice her admiration for Trump, especially after joining Fox News as a contributor in March 2022.
While Jenner has advocated for transgender rights in the past, her alignment with Trump and conservative ideologies has strained her relationship with many transgender activists and individuals.
Praise for Trump
The former Olympic athlete’s recent social media post praised Trump during his appearance at a UFC fight in Paradise, Nevada.
Jenner claimed that neither Biden nor DeSantis could achieve a moment like Trump’s.
However, her enthusiastic endorsement of the former president drew dissenting responses from social media users.
A Staged Spectacle
Some criticized Trump’s tendency to seize opportunities for self-promotion, while others argued that his grand entrance at the UFC fight was merely a staged spectacle.
One Twitter user wrote, “Caitlyn Jenner, you do need to shut the hell up and sit down now…Hate to tell you this but, your friends are all lying to you…NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU SAY OR DO…YOU ARE SO NOT THE ONE.”
Another user added, “No other President draws Freedom Loving Americans like Trump. Ever.”
