In a bold and unapologetic address at the Concerned Women for America Summit in Washington, D.C., Florida Governor Ron DeSantis took center stage to confront one of the staggering national debts of the country. Here’s the full story.
Democrats and Republicans to Blame for Fiscal Crisis

In his speech, DeSantis pointed fingers at both congressional Democrats and Republicans, saying that both parties share the blame for this fiscal crisis.
Spending the Country Into Oblivion

DeSantis said, “I’m not going to let the Congress spend this country into oblivion any longer.”
Republicans and Democrats Have Bankrupted This Country

“And let’s just be clear – we didn’t get $32 trillion in debt just because of one party. It’s been Republicans and Democrats in D.C. who have bankrupted this country,” he continued.
This Is Not the First Time

However, this was not the first time DeSantis blamed the Republicans.
In a recent interview with CBS News, DeSantis didn’t shy away from confronting his primary opponent, former President Donald Trump.
$7.4 Trillion Debt Increase

During this candid exchange, he underscored the fact that under the Trump administration, the national debt had swelled by a staggering $7.4 trillion.
Donald Trump Contributed to This Debt

DeSantis said, “Donald Trump added almost $8 trillion to the debt in four years. He ran saying he was going to eliminate the national debt.”
They Did the Opposite

“He did make that promise, and they did the opposite,” he added.
The Bipartisan Debt Ceiling Deal

DeSantis also condemned the bipartisan debt ceiling deal signed into law by President Biden in June.
Careening Toward Bankruptcy

He argued that the U.S. is still “careening toward bankruptcy” and criticized the short-term, election-driven mindset that permeates Washington, D.C.
“In Washington, D.C., they do these cycles to just get them through the next election. And that’s ultimately one of the reasons why they continue to fail,” he said.
The GOP Is Split

Currently, the GOP is undergoing a reckoning, with prominent figures like DeSantis and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley publicly acknowledging their party’s role in exacerbating the national debt crisis.
No One Is Telling the Truth

Haley, in particular, made headlines during the first GOP primary debate when she boldly declared, “No one is telling the American people the truth.”
She argued that the blame for the mounting debt crisis should not be solely placed on President Biden.
Republicans Also Bear Responsibility

She pointed out that “our Republicans” also bear responsibility for their actions.
She added, “When they passed that $2.2 trillion COVID stimulus bill, they left us with 90 million people on Medicaid, 42 million people on food stamps. No one has told you how to fix it.”
She Criticized DeSantis and Trump

She also criticized DeSantis and Trump for voting in favor of raising the debt ceiling.
And the Florida Defecit?

Several social media users shared their thoughts on the incident.
One user wrote, “Says the worst Gov. in Fl. History. Wait till we see the Fl. Deficit caused by Him!”
DeSantis’ List of Failures

Another user added, “Desantis’s list of failures. Proven record of racism and bigotry, his retaliation against anyone that disagrees with him, his attack on one of FL’s largest employers for publicity, reportedly took $4.9 million dollars in donations from Insurance Companies.”
DeSantis Destroyed Florida

A third user commented, “And DeSantis is responsible for almost destroying Florida!”
