In a recent sit-down interview with conservative political commentator Megyn Kelly, Ron DeSantis implied that he would consider pardoning former President Donald Trump if he were to win the presidency.

During the interview, DeSantis expressed concerns about the implications of an almost 80-year-old former president facing prison time and emphasized the need for the nation to move forward, leaving past controversies behind.

He said, “At the end of the day, it’s like, do we want to move forward as a country? Or do we want to be mired in these past controversies? And I think the public wants a fresh start.”

He also spoke out against what he termed the “weaponization of the government,” pledging to put an end to practices that undermine the cause of freedom.

“It’s not just about one person. It’s about do we have a rule of law. Or is it just about wielding power against people you don’t like?” Desantis said, referring to Trump’s ongoing legal issues.

He added, “And so everything that happens in this case and others for me is seen through that prism of a DOJ and FBI that have totally lost their way and they’ve been weaponized against the public.

I think in DC there’s a big problem that we have in terms of being able to get fair trials.”

While he specifically referred to Trump’s legal issues in this context, DeSantis implied that this problem extended beyond one individual, asserting that upholding the rule of law and ensuring fair trials for all citizens was crucial.
