Regarding this, there have been plenty of arguments within OP’s family, and talking about it becomes very tense.
Embrace God or Go to Hell
Recently, Sarah said something at a family event that really got under OP’s skin.
She advised OP to abandon his homosexual “lifestyle” and embrace God before it was too late or OP would not be granted eternal salvation.
Well He Would See Her There
OP got angry and yelled out at her, telling her that she was headed to hell as well and that there was nothing she could do to stop it, no matter how many times she repented.
He Knew It’d Sting
OP says he doesn’t consider himself to be particularly religious, but Sarah is a devoted Christian, so OP knew that this comment would hurt her deeply.
He’s Been Holding Her Sin Over Her
OP shares a situation in 2010 where Sarah every day committed the one unforgivable sin – blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
She Thought Her Blasphemy Was Long Forgotten
Since there is simply no turning back from that, it caused quite a fuss in their family for quite some time, but she finally returned to Christianity and is now especially pious, so the family doesn’t bring it up anymore.
Repenting on His Deathbed
OP told her, “If I really repent on my deathbed, I could sleep with every single man on the planet, take on the form of Sodom, and yet go to heaven.”
Worry About Yourself
OP went on to say that however, she had made sure she’ll spend eternity in hell when she blasphemed against the Holy Spirit years ago, so she should worry about herself first, even if she lived a life reflecting the virtues of Jesus and regularly confessed her crimes.
Sobbing Sinner
She broke down in tears, accusing OP of being cruel and expressing that she was only looking after OP.
Awkward
After that, she and her spouse left. OP and his mom also left the situation since it became quite unpleasant for everyone.
Leave the Past Alone
Later OP’s parents scolded OP, telling that while OP has the right to self-defense, bringing up something Sarah did more than ten years ago and for which she cannot atone as the reason she will burn in hell was excessive, especially given that she genuinely only wants to see OP saved, which is at least possible for OP if he repents.

In essence, OP’s parents believe that she wasn’t intentionally hurting OP and that OP’s remarks wounded Sarah much more than hers did.

OP shared that he doesn’t dispute that Sarah cares about and loves him, but she went too far by warning that OP would go to hell if he didn’t repent.
