She described the current situation as disgusting and argued that discussions about gender should take place within the privacy of homes, rather than being pushed onto innocent children.

Anna Brown, CEO of Equality Australia, criticized Senator Hanson’s motion as “one-sided and misleading.”

Brown argued that the politicization of Trans and gender-diverse children’s healthcare negatively affects the already vulnerable population’s health and well-being.

The CEO emphasized the importance of access to gender-affirming care, which has been shown to save lives among transgender and non-binary youth.

Senator Hanson specifically called for an investigation into whether Australian children were being rushed into gender reassignment treatment and whether doctors who expressed concerns were being silenced.

The suspension of Dr. Jillian Spencer, a senior staff psychiatrist at Queensland Children’s Hospital, following her questioning of the use of puberty blockers without appropriate mental health assessments, served as an example cited by Senator Hanson.

The data also indicated a more than 100-fold increase in children being prescribed puberty blockers.
“The Gender-Affirmation Ideology Is a Cult”
Senator Hanson went on to say, “This gender-affirmation ideology has all the hallmarks of a crazy cult – capturing impressionable minds, isolating them from their families, and ultimately destroying their lives.”

She added, “Mark my words. If the Labor, the Greens, and others in the Senate, deny this inquiry, those responsible will not escape accountability. History, and the Australian people, will condemn you.”

Senator Hanson concluded by accusing the government of “not caring about the children of this nation.”
