Hunter Biden has recently filed a lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service after his tax returns were disclosed during congressional hearings. Here’s the whole story.
The lawsuit claims that Hunter Biden’s personal tax details were shared during the federal investigation and during hearings and interviews.
Hunter views this as a direct assault on his confidentiality rights.
In his lawsuit, Hunter Biden is seeking compensation of $1,000 for each disclosure of his tax information and the related legal fees.
Slow-Walking the Investigation
The legal action is primarily directed at IRS agents Greg Shapley and Joe Ziegler, who acted as whistleblowers by accusing the DOJ of “slow-walking” the investigation when testifying in Congress.
The heart of the matter revolves around political interference allegations in Hunter Biden’s tax case.
The Department of Justice, however, has consistently denied any political interference, saying that the investigation was being conducted without external pressures.
Hunter Earned Millions
Currently, prosecutors have alleged that Hunter earned taxable income of at least $1.5 million in 2017 and 2018 but did not pay income tax for those years.
The Impeachment Inquiry
The current political landscape further complicates this legal battle.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has initiated efforts to launch a formal impeachment inquiry into Hunter’s father, President Joe Biden.
Culture of Corruption
He announced this move, citing a “culture of corruption” allegedly involving the Biden family.
Democrats argue that these efforts are “extremist,” while McCarthy contends that the inquiry is not politically motivated but seeks to obtain answers.
Biden Would Not Pardon Hunter
Also, when asked whether President Biden would pardon his son, the Biden administration said that the President would not pardon Hunter.
Twitter Users Expressed Their Views
Several social media users shared their thoughts on the incident.
One Twitter user wrote, “How delightful, it seems like a nice family.”
Justice System Behind Him
Another user added, “He has the whole Biden justice system behind him, no way he loses.”
What Is the Job?
A third user commented, “IRS released that he didn’t pay taxes? I thought it was their job to report to the authorities when people dodge millions on taxes. Or is it only for Republicans?”
A fourth user wrote, “Hunter took in millions from foreign sources and hid the money so he could avoid paying the IRS, now he’s suing them? Not because they were wrong about his crimes, but because they EXPOSED him! He’s only doing this because he feels THAT protected right now. Corrupt family.”
A fifth user added, “Dang it – he wanted money laundering to go in secret. How dare we learn how he laundered $20+ million from foreign governments?”
