Vice President Kamala Harris recently had an interview with 60 Minutes reporter Bill Whitaker, where she gave a bizarre reply about the president’s health. Here’s what she said.
During the interview, Harris was asked whether she would consider running for president in 2024 should Biden decide not to seek re-election.
Biden Is Very Much Alive
Harris awkwardly replied, “Well, first of all, I’m not gonna engage in that hypothetical because Joe Biden is very much alive and running for re-election. So there we are.”
After some poking from Whitaker, Harris said that she didn’t have time for “parlor games.” She shared that her focus was on the job at hand, considering the country’s current challenges.
The exchange between Harris and Whitaker resulted in a brief, awkward silence before moving on to another topic.
Whitaker inquired about the polling results for the 2024 election, highlighting the competition with former President Donald Trump, who faces numerous criminal charges.
Biden Is Gonna Win?
Harris replied, “I’m not a political pundit, so I’m not gonna speak to that. But what I will say is this: When the American people are able to take a close look at election time on their options, I think the choice is going to be clear… We’re gonna win. And I’m not saying it’s going to be easy. But we will win. I have no doubt.”
Lack of Media Coverage
Harris suggested that the administration’s messaging may not resonate with voters due to a lack of media coverage of their achievements.
She shared the need to continue reaching out to the American people and making their case.
During the interview, Harris also discussed various policy issues, including her call for the reinstatement of the assault weapons ban following a recent massacre in Lewiston, Maine.
Invest in the Root Causes of Migration
She called on Congress to “invest in the root causes of migration” when addressing the crisis at the southern border.
Harris also compared her working relationship with President Biden to the successful partnership that former President Obama and Biden shared from 2008 to 2016.
When asked if she has a similar relationship with President Biden, Harris affirmed that she does and takes the responsibility seriously.
Worst Vice President in Decades
However, a September poll by Daily Mail found that some perceived Harris as the worst vice president in decades.
Approximately 40% of respondents ranked her as the least favorable recent vice president, surpassing Republicans Mike Pence and Dick Cheney in the ranking.
Harris is Incompetent
When asked to choose a word to describe the vice president, respondents frequently selected “incompetent” over positive terms such as “smart” and “strong.”
Additionally, nearly half of the 1,000 surveyed believed Biden should consider a different running mate for the 2024 election, including a significant portion of Democrats and black respondents.
Twitter users expressed their views
Social media users shared their thoughts on the incident.
One Twitter user wrote, “In all fairness, she probably needed to establish that. Because watching Joe Biden doesn’t make it clear that he is alive or running for president.”
We Are in Big Trouble
Another user added, “There may be air in Biden’s lungs. Alive in his mind and ideologies are not alive but will be the death to many. He must not be re-elected. We are in big trouble folks.”
Worst President in History
A third user commented, “No way he will make it another four years. Then, we will be stuck with Kamala. She would easily be the worst president in history.”
