She’s Done Raising Kids
Sandy is a 55-year-old mother of three. Her oldest daughter is 30, and she has 25-year-old twins, a girl and a boy.
But Not All of Them Grew Up
The two girls are doing well, with one happily married and the other in grad school. But Sandy’s son seems to be struggling more to keep his life on track.
She Loved Her Like Her Own
When he was 20 years old, he married a woman who already had a 3-year-old daughter. Sandy has always considered the little girl to be her granddaughter.
The Family Started to Grow
Two years ago, her son and his wife had a child of their own, which made Sandy even happier.
He Works In Remote Locations
But Sandy’s son works an unusual job that pays well but has him flying to remote locations. He works and lives away from home for two weeks at a time, then comes home for the next two weeks.
He Screwed It All Up
He didn’t handle the time away from home very well and ended up cheating on his wife with a coworker.
When his wife found out, she booted him out of their house.
He Moved Back Home
Because he is only home for half of each month, her son didn’t want to rent an apartment and blow that extra money. So Sandy agreed to let him move in with her, at least temporarily.
It Was More Than She Bargained For
But Sandy was shocked when her son turned up at her place with the family dog.
She lives in a fairly small apartment and didn’t feel it was fair to the dog to keep it confined in such a small space.
He Belonged with Them
Sandy thought it was really unfair to the ex-wife and her grandchildren, who all loved the dog very much.

As soon as he was gone, Sandy called his ex-wife and asked if she wanted the dog back. She was so happy, she almost cried.
