In the viral video, Gibson filmed his encounter with the white therapist, identified as Tanya, as she approached him and a friend to inquire about their residency status.
Tanya’s inquiry immediately raised concerns of racial bias, as she singled out Gibson and his friend, seemingly based on their appearance.
The Video Went Viral
The video garnered an astonishing 7.5 million views, sparking outrage and condemnation across social media platforms.
She Asked Whether They Were Residents
In the footage, Tanya can be seen asking whether they were residents while simultaneously taking a picture of their license plates, suggesting she would report them for fishing in the area.
He Was Frustrated
Reacting to the incident, Gibson expressed his frustration, revealing that this was not the first time he faced such discrimination in his own neighborhood.

He recounted several other instances where white residents challenged his right to be there, and one man even claimed to be part of the Home Owners’ Association and demanded their addresses.
In response, Gibson and his friends asked for the man’s address but declined to provide theirs, as they felt they were being unjustly harassed.

Therefore, Gibson had every right to fish in the lake without a license as a guest of a resident, dispelling any doubts about his entitlement to be there.

As the video continued to gain traction, Sea Glass Therapy, Tanya’s employer, took swift action, severing ties with her as a freelance member of their team.
