This is a tale that takes us back to the summer of ’69! Eddy, 12 years old at the time, had FINALLY got a brand new bike, one that he’d been saving for months. Unfortunately for this young firestarter, it wasn’t meant to be. Let’s take a look.
Eddy’s 1969 Paper Route

Back in the summer of 1969, Eddy was a spirited 12-year-old boy. Like many kids, he wanted some cash, so he took on an early morning paper route in his neighborhood.
Eddy’s Pride and Joy

The first significant purchase he made with his hard-earned money was a sleek, red, ten-speed bike with a pop of silver trim.
Not only was this bicycle Eddy’s pride and joy, but it also served a practical purpose, helping him in his paper deliveries.
A Routine Paper Delivery Turns Disastrous

Every morning, like clockwork, Eddy would deliver newspapers to the houses on his route. One of his regular customers frequently left for work around the time Eddy arrived.
Being a cautious and respectful kid, Eddy always parked his bike well away from any cars when he made his deliveries.
Eddy’s Beloved Bike Meets an Untimely End

However, on one unfortunate morning, as the man hastily reversed out of his driveway, he failed to notice Eddy’s beloved bike, turned too soon, and ended up running right over it!
The impact severely damaged the bicycle’s front sprocket and derailleur.
A Heartless Reaction

The man briefly paused, sticking his head out of his car window, and asked, “Is it okay?”
With a heavy heart, Eddy responded, “Not exactly.”
Instead of an apology or an offer to help, the man coldly remarked, “Well, that’s what you get for leaving it behind my car,” and drove away, leaving an upset Eddy in his wake!
From Hurt to Anger

Feeling defeated, Eddy trudged back home, his once shining bike now in a sorry state. But Eddy stewed in his upset, and his hurt, frustration, and powerlessness gradually turned to a burning anger.
Eddy Decides to Seek Revenge

Determined not to let the man get away with his actions, Eddy decided to stop delivering newspapers to his house.
When the man eventually complained about the missed deliveries, Eddy managed to convince his supervisor that he was indeed delivering the papers and that the man was simply a chronic complainer.
Targeting the Man’s Vulnerable Mailbox

This small act of rebellion didn’t end Eddy’s thirst for retribution. The guy’s house was along the main path kids took to visit the nearby 7-11, and one day, Eddy noticed a vulnerable target: his mailbox.
Sitting on a loose steel post, Eddy got in the habit of uprooting the mailbox and flinging it across the fence across the street into a cemetery. He’d do this once or twice a week!
A Fiery Act of Retaliation

However, even this mischief didn’t satisfy Eddy’s thirst for justice. That’s when he noticed the three towering frond shrubs in the man’s front yard.
One fateful August evening, an idea took over. Eddy tossed a lit match into one of the shrubs! By the next morning, all that remained was a charred reminder of his act. Over the next few weeks, the other two shrubs met a similar fate.
The Ultimate Revenge

But the peak of Eddy’s quest for retribution came one early morning. As he was returning from his paper route, he spotted an open window on the side of the man’s garage.
An idea sparked in his mind, a daring and potentially dangerous one!
A Risky Act

Back in those days, it was common for people to keep emergency road flares in their cars.
Eddy, being well aware of this, sneaked into the garage through the open window.
Eddy’s Daring Scheme

He swiftly found two flares, ignited them, and strategically placed them behind each of the man’s car tires!
Hightailing It Home

Without waiting to witness the aftermath, Eddy hurriedly climbed out and hightailed it back to the safety of his home!
Eddie did not go back to see what happened, and he stayed away from the area for days, hoping to avoid any suspicion.
Eddy’s Secret Revenge

He knew that he’d ruined the guy’s tires, and although he never saw the result, he didn’t care. Eddy had finally got his revenge.
A Summer of Retribution

The man may never have known why he was suddenly so cursed, but for Eddy, it was a summer where he learned the lengths he could go to when someone disrespected him.
Justified Revenge or Going Too Far?

Redditors thought Eddy’s story was great revenge, although many thought he had gone too far. One user said, “I know other people will probably give you flack but I love hearing stories about kids in the 60s-70s.. probably went a bit far but in your defense, he sounded like a jerk.”
Another user echoed the sentiment, saying, “I would say you went too far, but it sounds like this fool was accruing negative karma.”
