This woman’s supernatural story will surely bring a smile to your face. She posted on Reddit, wondering if anyone could help her make sense of what she’d just experienced.
A Strange Occurrence
The Original Poster (OP), a proud mom to her 18-month-old son, had just experienced something strange on her evening walk.
While strolling through the neighborhood, she and her son decided to take a different route.
Her little boy, who loves nature, picked up a rock and a stick to carry with him. He held them tightly, refusing to drop or give them away, and was very shy around strangers.
A Man Appeared
As they were walking, OP stopped to show her son some flowers, and they sat on the curb.
Suddenly, an older man in his 80s approached them and asked if they could wait for a minute.
A Gift From a Stranger
OP agreed, and the man disappeared briefly before returning with a single sprig of lavender from his garden.
The man went to hand the lavender to the little boy, and OP got ready to intervene since her son never accepted anything from strangers.
Swapping Treasures
However, to her utter shock, her son reached out and took the lavender from the man’s hand.
Even more surprisingly, the little boy put out his hand and dropped his stick and rock into the man’s hand, much to OP’s amazement.
A Strange Connection
As the little boy smelled the lavender, the man’s eyes started filling up with tears.
OP was stunned as her son had never done anything like this before. Then, her son started making sounds he had never made, such as “strruuuuhh” and “strrrr.”
For the life of her, she couldn’t figure out why he suddenly became so eager to make those sounds.
A Familiar Name
OP introduced herself and her son to the older man and asked for his name.
He replied, “Sterling,” and she was shocked – her son practically said his name 20 times before she even asked!
Freaked Out
OP was so freaked out by what happened that she went home.
Her son was still holding onto the lavender, smelling it, smiling, and in heaven.
He’s an Old Soul
OP has had multiple strangers stop her on the street since her son was just a few months old, telling her that he was an old soul.
