Trump Blames Abortion Stance on Midterm Losses

After Republicans failed to secure a “red wave” in this year’s midterm elections, they began to blame Trump since many of his personally endorsed candidates were the ones who lost their races. Trump, however, has a different idea of who’s to blame and is doing finger-pointing of his own.

Allies Turning on Allies

Trump is adamant that the main reason Republicans lost the midterms was their immovable stance on abortion.

“It wasn’t my fault that the Republicans didn’t live up to expectations in the midterms,” he said on Truth Social. “It was the ‘abortion issue,’ poorly handled by many Republicans…that lost large numbers of voters. Also, the people that pushed so hard, for decades, against abortion, got their wish from the U.S. Supreme Court, and just plain disappeared, not to be seen again.”

Losing Support

Ever since the failures in the midterms, support for Trump and his 2024 campaign has waned. He has also been involved in quite a few scandals since announcing his intent to run in 2024, which probably hurts his chances.

He was seen having dinner with Kanye West and known white supremacist Nick Fuentes at Mar-a-Lago in November. Trump claims that he didn’t know who Fuentes was, but many people, including those in his own party, called for him to apologize.

Even former Vice President Mike Pence believed Trump owes an apology. He believes that it was wrong for Trump to give them “a seat at the table.”

One Thing After Another

Trump has also been involved in an ongoing investigation after he took White House documents and kept them at Mar-a-Lago. The FBI was able to recover most of the documents, but given their classified nature, Trump has been under investigation for taking the documents to begin with.

He is also still under investigation for the incident on January 6th. The House Ways and Means Committee handed the case over to the Justice Department and gave them a criminal referral.

Trump was spared from testifying, but many still believe he was a key player in the event.
