The Interview
During a recent interview, Harris was asked about the possibility of her stepping up to the presidency if President Biden, at 80 years old, were to fall ill.
Biden Will Be Fine
She replied, “Joe Biden is going to be fine, so that is not going to come to fruition.”
Harris May Have to Take Over the Job of Being President
“But let us also understand that every vice president — every vice president — understands that when they take the oath they must be very clear about the responsibility they may have to take over the job of being president. I’m no different,” she added.
Social Media Users Shared Their Thoughts
However, her comments didn’t sit well with the online community, leading to a chorus of disapproval on social media.
Critics took to Twitter to express their concerns.
Heaven Forbid!
One user wrote, “Yikes, heaven forbid!!”
Another added, “Oh Jesus,” while a third commented, “God help us this never comes to pass.”
She’s So Unlikeable
Some labeled the interview as “cringe-worthy,” and others wrote, “She’s so unlikeable.”
Joe the Vegetable
One user also added, “Sure Kamala could “fill in”. Why not? Joe the vegetable isn’t doing anything. Hasn’t done anything. Kamala could destroy America as easily as Biden can. Why not?”
A Potato Could Do Biden’s Job
Another commented, “A potato could do the same job as Biden.”
Biden Is Working for the American People
In the same interview, Harris doubled down on her faith in President Biden’s abilities, saying, “I see him every day. A substantial amount of time we spend together is in the Oval Office, where I see how his ability to understand issues and weave through complex issues in a way that no one else can to make smart and important decisions on behalf of the American people has played out.”
Joe Biden Delivers
“And so I will say to you that I think the American people ultimately want to know what their president delivers. And Joe Biden delivers,” she added.
Harris’ Popularity Is Declining
However, the Vice President’s popularity has experienced a dip in recent months.
Some of her colleagues attribute this decline to a combination of misogyny and racism.
Harris Is Unfairly Targeted
Ashley Allison, a fellow Democrat, argued that many people don’t fully understand the role of vice presidents and suggested that Harris has been unfairly targeted due to her identity as a woman and a Black woman.
She Is a Black Woman
She defended Harris by saying, “She is a woman, she is a Black woman, and it’s the easy thing to do… to say she’s the attack dog, go after her.”
